Christian Response Says: Illegal Aliens DO NOT Deserve U.S. Jobs!
So I guess this is more of a rant than anything else. Here goes. The Christian Response sucks. Big time.
A little history here.
A couple of months ago I randomly received an email from a group called the Christian Response. Normally an email like this would get sent to trash without me getting even close to reading it, but I must have been in a suckerish mood that day, because I clicked on it and began reading. Apparently, the writers of the email were very concerned that a certain candidate for President does not get elected. Not only that, but they announced that fact with oversized Comic Sans font with horrible colors--neon green and bright red (Christmas!).
The bottom of the email assured me that the writers of the Christian Response spam emails certainly "support responsible and ethical email marketing practices". Which brings up the question of how I got on the list (okay, so I knew that buying Christian music online was a mistake. Or maybe they got my address from that "forward this email or you will burn in hell" email that I thoughtlessly forwarded 5 years ago). Whatever the case, I was too intrigued to unsubscribe at this point.
Apparently this candidate is the Antichrist (or at least a close friend of his) and would only bring America to great doom. His faults as listed in the email? He's black He supports gay marriage (and apparently will pass laws requiring every citizen in America to be gay), he wants to raise your taxes, he's a coward, he's a Muslim, blah blah.
The Christian response is to give money to the Christian Response (which is ironically based out of Lancaster, PA) and to vote against Barack Obama this November.
Since then, the emails keep coming. They've made a stupid video full of lies that they now need money to run on national TV. They need more money. They've kidnapped your mom and want ransom. They need more money.
And then yesterday. "Illegal Aliens DO NOT Deserve U.S. Jobs!" scream the huge neon green and red headlines. If I thought the earlier ones were funny, this one is hilarious. The entertainment that you could get from subscribing to these emails is almost enough for me to link to their site so you guys could have the pleasure of reading the rants of stupid people. But Google juice is something they don't need, so I concur.

As someone who's seen the "Obama is a Muslim who wants to destroy America" email in my parents inbox, I'm worried about what Christianity has turned into when it becomes a partisan-party-line-spread-paranoia-about-the-enemy kind of thing.
And I'm immensely saddened to see this among the strictest of Mennonites, who appear to have one of the last bastions of counter-culture community and believe themselves to be separate from the world. Really? Separate from the world or separate from the evil liberals?
Your Turn: I'm not claiming a sole propriety on a Christian response, but I'm more than slightly worried about these guys' exclusive hold on the truth. Does anybody know who these guys are and who's paying them?
